At the University of Goma, the faculty celebrates coexistence and institutional cohesion
In a spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and collaboration, the professors of the University of Goma (UNIGOM), accompanied by their spouses, organized a friendly gathering on Saturday, January 17, marking the beginning of the year 2026 and the strengthening of coexistence within the faculty.
This initiative is part of a dynamic to consolidate human and professional relationships among teachers, convinced that the quality of the internal climate is an essential lever for the proper functioning and radiance of the university institution.
Long limited to a posture of observation of institutional dynamics, the professors of UNIGOM today assert a new organizational culture based on commitment, active participation, and co-responsibility. Through this meeting, they expressed their willingness to overcome divisions to promote unity, listening, and collaboration.
Beyond its festive character, this ceremony helped strengthen the bonds between colleagues and families, fostering a climate of trust conducive to effective and harmonious academic work. It also demonstrates the faculty's attachment to the values of peace, mutual respect, and coexistence, which are dear to the University of Goma.
The Rector of the University of Goma, Professor Ordinary Muhindo Mughanda, praised this initiative, which he considers essential and a strong signal of institutional maturity:
“The university is not just a place for knowledge production; it is primarily a living space. The women and men who work here often spend more time together than with their own families. It is therefore fundamental that the professional environment is a safe, humane, and peaceful place, where we learn not only to work together but also to know, respect, and share with one another. Initiatives like this, which promote conviviality, relaxation, and closeness among colleagues and families, contribute to building a strong university community. They strengthen trust, prevent unnecessary tensions, and create an environment conducive to collaboration, academic performance, and community service.” said Rector Mughanda.
He adds: “For my part, I warmly welcome this dynamic of cohesion and solidarity carried by the faculty. Every body within the University should understand that coexistence, collective commitment, and internal collaboration are essential pillars for building a strong, credible university that is resolutely focused on community service.”
Through this approach, the professors of UNIGOM contribute to building a very close-knit, engaged university community that is resolutely oriented towards the future.
