The UNIGOM Center for Technological Innovations Receives 500 Books on Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy

A conference on digital culture marks a new step towards promoting innovation at the University of Goma

On Friday, October 10, 2025, the Center for Technological Innovations of the University of Goma (UNIGOM), in collaboration with its partner BridgeSats, organized a conference on digital culture around the theme: "The role of ICTs in creating an innovative environment," at the Lac Vert campus.

This activity is part of the University of Goma's vision to strengthen the technological capabilities of its students and promote a digital innovation ecosystem in the region.

A vision is to make UNIGOM a major player in technological innovation

The conference was opened by Professor Joseph NZABANDORA, Secretary General for Research and representative of the Rector, Professor MUHINDO MUGHANDA.

In his address, Professor NZABANDORA recalled the vision of the Management Committee:

"The University of Goma created this center to make it a major player in innovation and technological development in Central Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our ambition is to transform ideas from university research into concrete solutions, viable startups, and innovations with a strong social and economic impact." He stated.

A strategic partnership with BridgeSats

In this same dynamic, a collaboration partnership was signed between the UNIGOM Center for Technological Innovations and BridgeSats.

This agreement aims to create a pipeline of talent within the University, allowing the most promising student ideas to benefit from technical support, funding, and specialized training to become truly successful businesses.

Thanks to this partnership, students will have access to advanced training programs and learning opportunities focused on the technologies that shape the future, namely, artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, the digital economy, sustainable energy, digital health, etc.

Official handover of 500 books on AI and the digital economy

During this activity, the partner BridgeSats handed over to the Center a batch of 500 specialized books on artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

These educational resources will be used to support training courses, hackathons, competitions, and innovation fairs organized by the center, in order to stimulate the technological ecosystem within the University and throughout the North Kivu region.

"These books will allow our students and researchers to train on cutting-edge technologies and actively participate in the digital transformation of the country," said Mr. Patrice MUNGARA, one of the managers of the Center for Technological Innovations.

The UNIGOM Center for Technological Innovations is a space open to students, researchers, and external partners wishing to collaborate in the development of local technological solutions.

It aims to encourage applied research, entrepreneurial creativity, and the production of digital solutions adapted to Congolese realities.

This initiative demonstrates once again the desire of the University of Goma to position itself as a center of technological and scientific excellence in the Great Lakes region, by putting science and innovation at the service of sustainable development.
