Continuation of the campaign against the stigma of skin diseases: Écho Santé UNIGOM raises awareness at the ZANNER Institute
As part of the national campaign to combat the stigma of skin diseases, volunteers from the Écho Santé UNIGOM program, in collaboration with the Association of Skin Patients ECZÉMA RDC, organized a new awareness activity on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the ZANNER Institute.
A mobilization of the school community around a message of inclusion
This initiative brought together students, teachers, and supervisors around a common goal: to inform, deconstruct preconceived ideas, and promote the inclusion of people living with dermatological diseases, particularly eczema.
At the beginning of the session, the facilitators reminded participants of the main axes of the campaign, namely:
-the fight against discrimination towards people with skin diseases;
-the guidance of patients towards appropriate health facilities;
-the reduction of myths and false beliefs;
-the promotion of the integration of patients into psychosocial support groups, such as the ECZÉMA RDC Association.
Interactive exchanges for a change in perception
The session was distinguished by its participatory nature. Students actively participated in the discussions, asking questions and sharing their perceptions about skin diseases. This dialogue helped clarify several misunderstandings and strengthen knowledge about eczema, which is often surrounded by stereotypes.
A concrete support for the affected individuals
Continuing the field actions, the organizers collected contact information from patients or their relatives. This approach aims to facilitate their referral to appropriate health facilities, particularly through the availability of the call center of the ECZÉMA RDC Association.
UNIGOM at the heart of community awareness
Through this activity, the University of Goma confirms its role as an engaged actor in promoting health and well-being within the community. By investing in the school environment, Écho Santé UNIGOM contributes to forming an informed, conscious, and active youth in social change.
